How to present monthly payments in an HVAC proposal

A $12,000 system is a scary number. $189 a month is a budgeting question. Both describe the same sale, but they trigger different conversations, and teams that present payments per option consistently sell better systems than teams that quote cash prices and mention financing on the way out.

Lead with the payment, keep the cash price honest

Print the monthly payment beside the cash price on every option, never instead of it. Hiding the cash number reads as a trick; showing both reads as a service. The homeowner mentally switches from 'can we afford $12,000' to 'is the Better option worth $30 more a month than Good', which is exactly the comparison you want them making.

Why per-option payments change the sale

  • The step from Good to Best often shrinks to a restaurant bill per month
  • Efficiency savings can offset part of the payment, honestly framed as an estimate
  • Accessories stop being line-item shocks and become dollars a month
  • The homeowner compares options instead of comparing you to a cheaper bid

Handling the objections

'I don't finance things': agree, and leave both numbers visible; many cash buyers still choose a payment once they see it. 'What's the rate?': answer directly and show total cost of credit; evasion kills trust faster than any APR. 'I'll use my own bank': fine, and your printed payment is now their comparison benchmark. The goal is never to push financing; it is to make the real monthly cost visible while the decision is still warm.

Mechanics that make it stick

  • Get the financing application into the same sitting as the proposal
  • Recalculate live when the homeowner tweaks options, never 'I'll re-run it later'
  • Collect the deposit at signature while the momentum exists
  • Track which options and terms actually close, and prune what doesn't

None of this survives contact with a rep doing loan math by hand at the kitchen table. When payments render automatically per option and update as the homeowner explores, financing stops being a pitch and becomes part of how the proposal reads.

Financing math, live in every proposal.

AirMatch shows GoodLeap monthly payments beside every Good / Better / Best option and recalculates as the homeowner compares, with the deposit two taps away.
